Some thoughts on ZOM 100 Bucket List of the Dead | Random Reviews # 004
Recently released ZOM 100 is a Netflix movie that has a strange tag line for a Zombie movie “Bucket list of the dead” but that’s what catches your attention and makes you wonder what this may be about. Excluding those who know about the comic, the ones who directly watched the movie, we have some thoughts that we would like to share with those who are interested in watching it.
We know most people stop reading after few paragraphs, so we will keep the spoilers for the last and with a warning, so you know when to stop reading. Well, the conclusion is, you can skip it unless the topic of escaping corporate world even if that means wishing for a zombie apocalypse is your thing. The zombies are too powerless, and the action scenes are very nonrealistic.
The Good
The best part of the movie is how effectively they were able to make you feel that zombie apocalypse is better than living with a corporate job. Majority of them are toxic and don’t really care about your personal life. The people who suffer the most know it and they are majority which means the creator of this movie knew who to target and how to get more views even without worrying about a lot of other things. The moment when he says while running from a bunch of zombies, and this may not be the exact dialogue, “At this rate, they will mark me as late.” really felt because we usually forget that we should drive carefully which might cost our life just to get there on time. We can relate running away from Zombie but still prioritizing getting at work on time means the same thing.
It makes you think why it should take a zombie apocalypse to live a better life, “a normal life”, like one should live. fulfilling one’s dreams and checking off bucket list to feel alive. We are sure you will want to start making a wish list and try to achieve it while we still have a world that is fixed without any apocalyptic situation.
The Bad
You can expect spoilers here so if you are convinced to watch it, just watch it keeping the good in mind and you will enjoy it. The bad thing like I mentioned earlier is the action scenes and Zombies that are too powerless, and one can just push them away and survive. They can be punched in the face, and they just go away kind of. It felt too easy for the characters to survive a huge bunch of them without any weapon, which is definitely strange and unrealistic.
The other odd thing was that the toxic corporate world was demonstrated, too toxic, or maybe we just don’t know how terrible it can get. And why should Akira follow his boss during the apocalypse when he is not getting any credits in his resume or salary? That part made very little sense and also why didn’t any zombie run after him when he was riding a very noisy bike?
Conclusion
If you can ignore these bad things, you will definitely enjoy this silly and joyful ride. The important lesson we need to learn from this movie is that we should not wait for a terrible situation to help us chose a path that we truly want to take in life. How many of us would say, if I had no choice, I would do business or follow my dreams? Well, think about it, you still have no choice with your toxic work environment. That is no way to live. Instead, just make a list and go for it, “before you turn into a Zombie”. The most shockingly true moment was when his boss says, ” You were a great employee, just like these Zombies.”
