Blogging using Odoo platform for free
Awesome layout, easy to customize, SEO tools, fonts, unlimited free posts and much more is offered by Odoo’s online blogging tool. The entire experience seems too good to be true but it’s there for everyone to use for free. Yes, you heard it right, it’s free! You can use any one app for free but if you add more you have to pay. However, if you just want to blog, you just need the website part of the app and you can start blogging. If you are already interested, just go to www.odoo.com and check it out yourself.
It surprises me why not many people are using this as a blogging platform. There must be a catch I assume. What did Odoo do to ensure people keep using WordPress? Probably I will find that out soon enough. I tried the accounting app once and stopped using it for a couple of months, well, they deleted everything. I think they should have sent me the data at least via email or some kind of a link. It would hurt actual business terribly if you just remove the account for inactivity and don’t return the data. Could it be that they do something like that with a blog too? I don’t like writing in MS Word of Google Doc first and then publish in the blog. I just write in the blog editor itself so if Odoo decides to sweep off my data again, I’ll lose everything.
I hope they have improved the way user’s data are returned to the user if user decides to stop using the free version. Apart from that, there is no blogging tool that is better than Odoo in terms of ease of use and beautiful and easy to customize layout.
The other only negative point about Odoo is that they don’t offer Google Adsense for bloggers to earn money through blogging. If that is what you want to do, you have to switch to WordPress or something. I hope Odoo offers that also soon.
For the people who just want to create their website then Odoo is truly the best way to do it without paying a web developer or spending hours understanding desktop application of WordPress.
The other great thing about Odoo is that it is basically an ERP system and offers one module absolutely free. You can literally sign up with your email and start using it. If you like it, you can add modules for which you will need to pay.
There are other options to consider for blogging that have always been very popular,
WordPress
It is the most popular blogging platform for years and it keeps getting better with new plugins and templates. If you want to monetize it, you have to pay.
Blogger
This platform is an offering from google and it is the most user friendly one. Earlier Posterous was a platform that was very user friendly and could have given a great competition to blogger but now Blogger it is. You can use it for free and works best if you are not keen on the beautification of your website.
